Engineers Week

As part of engineers week the children carried out various STEM challenges.  Junior infants linked their STEM challenges with our Aistear Topic 'Fairy Tales & Traditional Stories'.

There were many opportunities to use inquiry based learning techniques which helped us better understand the science, technology, engineering and math involved in our projects.

Letter from Santa!

There was huge excitement this week in Junior Infants when Joe our postman delivered a very sparkly and unusual envelope addressed to 'Junior Infants at St. Attracta's N.S.'

We couldn't believe our eyes when the letter turned out to be from Santa Claus. He told us how proud he was of all our hard work this year and that we were at the top of his nice list. With so much cheering and wide-eyed faces, we were really feeling the magic!

Nature is the best Playground!

As part of SESE Junior Infants explored our natural environment whilst on our 'Autumn Walkabout'. We all wrapped up with our coats and wellingtons and took great delight squelching through the mud and splashing in the puddles. The children observed and investigated the many plants and animals that live in our local environment. We all really enjoyed bringing our learning outdoors, which led to some fantastic and curious class discussions on arrival back to school.

Off we go...

Looking out for signs of Autumn.

These are a few of our favourite things!

Wild mushrooms and pinecones...

Blackberries and wild flowers!
